Goodbye APK, Google has created the new format - Google Play store

what is apk ?

APK is the format that has been used since the beginning of Android for packaging and installing applications. The advantage of this format is that it allows you to easily install an application on any Android phone.
disadvantage:

Its disadvantage? It takes up a lot of space on mobile phones as it contains all the data needed to install the application on different architecture devices. That's why Google created the Application Bundle format (AAB).

What's new with AAB

With AAB, applications are standardized: they contain a basic APK and many additional APK files for different mobile phones. Thanks to this new format, unnecessary files will not be installed on your phone because AAB only installs the APK files needed to run the application. This is why Google will require developers to publish their applications in the AAB format instead of APK in the Google Play store starting August.

This new requirement from Google is for developers who want to publish their applications in the Google Play store, so it won't affect you as a user at all or result in a noticeable change in the store. So don't worry about it. You can still easily download applications by simply pressing the install button.

In fact, Google's new AAB format is actually beneficial for users as it reduces the size of application downloads and the space they take up...

In conclusion, while APK is still supported, the AAB format is recommended for new app releases due to its benefits and Google's push towards this format.
